Beta Reading

I am in search of a beta reader who can provide feedback for some upcoming stories. There is an opportunity to swap stories and receive feedback in return.

Beta Reading isn’t paid, but sensitivity reading, developmental editing, copy editing, line editing, and fact checking are. Therefore, if you indicate that you’re interested in these paid positions, we will discuss payment once I’ve contacted you.

Here’s more information about what I’m looking for in a beta read.

Horror

6 Westwood Drive

6 Westwood Drive is about Samantha Dam, a nonbinary woman who has just purchased a new home, site unseen, with the intent to fix it up. She finds that it’s a bit more difficult to live in an old fixer-upper when there’s an entity haunting you.

About 7.2k words and twelve segments long, 6 Westwood Drive explores love at first sight as a theme. The story follows Sam as she discovers the home that she’s purchased might just love her more than she loves it.

The horror elements come from the entity itself and the atmosphere. There is no gore or violence, but there are frightening scenes.

The story involves depictions of panic attacks, mentions hallucinations, and contains some ableism directed toward the main character.

This story might by for you if you have base knowledge of:

  • nonbinary genders
  • paranoia
  • panic attacks and anxiety
